Donate to Sibley's Spring Fundraising Campaign
Each day, thousands of gallons of oil gush out of the ruptured offshore well in the Gulf of Mexico. Gulf coast ecosystems are devastated and coastal economies are ruined. In the midst of this national disaster, it is clear that our current oil-based economy is on a dead-end road that hurts the environment and destroys communities. Now is more important than ever to stop using dirty, destructive fossil fuels! We need to support people in getting out of their cars and onto bicycles. Changing our individual transportation choices is critical to transitioning away the fossil fuel economy that changes our climate, destroys economies, and divides communities.
As a not-for-profit community bike shop, Sibley Bike Depot is working on the ground, each day, to help get people on bikes here in St. Paul and Minneapolis. Our Junior Mechanics youth classes teach youth skills in bike maintenance and repair, and allow them to get high school credit while fixing up a bike to keep. Sibley's free Open Shop provides a community space for anyone to come fix up their bike, free of charge, with assistance from expert mechanics and skilled volunteers. Sibley's new Community Partners Bike Library will make available 220 bicycles, all fully equipped for transportation purposes with rack, fenders, lights, lock, helmet, and bike map, for long-term loan to low-income community members.
We rely on the generous help and support of countless volunteers and supporters to make our programs strong as we work to build a biking movement here in the Twin Cities. We need your help to reach our Spring Fundraising Campaign goal of raising $5,000 to continue our important work. Help Sibley build more community partnerships to get people on bikes throughout the cities. Support Sibley as we expand the number of programs available to youth in our community. Help ensure that our new Bike Library program is a knock-out success. With your help, our organization will become stronger and more effective at getting bikes to people who lack the access to reliable, affordable transportation.
Please consider making a contribution to our Spring Fundraising Campaign that reflects the urgency of this moment and the importance of building sustainable transportation systems. Please consider donating at one of the below levels:
- $35 will put one youth through Sibley's Junior Mechanics earn-a-bike class
- $50 will pay for all the needed parts to fix up one Bike Library bike
- $250 will pay to keep Sibley's Open Shop staffed for one week
