***130 Bicycles sent to NEW ORLEANS!
Yesterday, Sibley volunteers, Board, and staff loaded up a 26' box truck full of 125 used bicycles and began a southern journey to deliver bikes to two grassroots, community bike programs in New Orleans! Plan B and RUBARB (Rusted Up Beyond All Recognition Bikes) both emerged in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to help community members access cheap, reliable transportation to get around. Sibley Bike Depot partnered with Mr. Michael Recycles Bicycles, who contributed approximately half of the bikes to go to NOLA; thanks MMRB!
***Summer Hours start today
Starting today, Sibley Bike Depot will expand to our Spring/Summer hours, which are:
Monday (Volunteer Night) 3-9pm
Tuesday - Women and Transgender Shop Night 6-9pm
Wednesday (Open Shop) 3-9pm
Saturday (Open Shop) 10am-6pm
Sunday (Open Shop) 12-4pm
***Donate a Bike for the Bike Library
Sibley is gearing up for a program release of the Community Partners Bike Library this Spring. We need bikes now more than ever! This is a great time to donate that old bike that you're not using - we'll get it in the hands of someone who will use it. Another great way to help us out is to set up a Bike Drive with a church, community group, school, workplace, wherever there are lots of people coming together. Help us get bikes out of people's basements and into the hands of people who need them!
