Give to the MAX to keep Sibley Strong!

***Give to the MAX today with GiveMN!!

Pigbutton_small

Support Sibley's Fall Fundraising Campaign by donating today!  Increase the reach of your donation by giving today through Sibley Bike Depot's profile on GiveMN, an innovative new online giving platform.  By going to www.givemn.org, searching for Sibley Bike Depot, and giving a donation of any amount, you can make the most of your donation.  Not only will 100% of your gift go to Sibley (GiveMN covers all credit card processing fees), but your gift will be matched by a certain percentage! (determined based on the total level of donations made to all organizations)

This moment is more important then ever before to help Sibley build a stronger future.  Help us continue our free programs throughout the winter, including our Junior Mechanics classes where high school youth learn bike mechanics and build a bike to take home.  Support Sibley in developing the Community Partners Bike Library, an innovative, federally funded program to provide bikes for long-term loan to low-income community members lacking reliable transportation options.  Help Sibley continue to provide free Open Shop, bike donations, free bike maintenance classes, and more to promote bicycling in our community.

***Winter Commuting Class December 3-10

Sibley will be offering a repeat of our successul Winter Commuting and Winterize your Bike class!  Starting Thursday, Dec 3 from 6:30-9pm, the class will last two weeks; week one will consist of conversation and discussion from seasoned winter bicyclists about how to stay warm, avoid frostbite, properly light your bike, and more.  Week 2 will be a hands-on maintenance session where participants will work to "winterize your bike" and make sure that brakes, shifting, bearings, and everything else is properly adjusted to handle the brutal Minnesota winter.  Space is available - register through the Twin Cities Experimental College at www.excotc.org.

That is our last class of 2009; Sibley will offer several winter sessions of Basic Bike Maintenance, Complete Overhaul, and more starting again in January - look out for them coming your way!

***First Mondays with Impact Now!

Starting Monday, December 7, Sibley will partner with the Impact Now program of Hands On Twin Cities to bring in volunteer bike mechanics from around the Twin Cities to fix bikes for our many community programs.  The program will be coordinated by Hub Bike Coop mechanic Sean Nelson and Sam Tracy from Hands On Twin Cities.  Visit www.handsontwincities.org for more info, or ask about it at the shop!  This program will occur the first Monday of each month from 5-8pm, in conjunction with Sibley's regularly scheduled Volunteer Night.

***Junior Mechanics class with St. Paul Connections

Sibley recently begun another session of our popular Junior Mechanics class through St. Paul Connections.  25 High School youth - mostly english language learners from ALC International Academy/Leap - fixed flat tires, scavenged for bicycle parts, and recycled damaged bikes.  Volunteers are always needed for Sibley's great youth classes - email Kevin@sibleybikedepot.org if you are interested in working to teach youth classes!

Thanks for you continued support, and we'll see you around the Sibley Bike Depot!
